Happy Friday! Welcome to the 35th instalment of the Coinbyte Weekly Wrap.

The market traded in a weaker range this week, with Bitcoin opening at around US$81,272, reaching a weekly high of US$81,433 before declining to a current price of US$76,723, representing a decline of approximately 5.59% from the weekly opening price.

Major altcoins also closed the week mostly in negative territory, with Ether down 1.97%, BNB slipping 1.27%, Solana falling 4.17%, and Cardano declining 6.04%. Dogecoin fell 4.20%, while TRX stood out with a 3.26% weekly gain. USDT and USDC declined 0.04% and 0.01% respectively.

Trading activity across major cryptocurrencies remained active: BTC average daily volume reached approximately US$27.6bn over the past seven days, while USDT recorded around US$67.0bn, with ETH and SOL averaging approximately US$13.7bn and US$3.0bn respectively.

Meanwhile, institutional accumulation continued to feature in the market, with Bitmine purchasing 28,086 ETH, bringing its holdings close to 5% of Ethereum’s total supply. Strive increased its Bitcoin holdings by 1,375 BTC, while SATA moved closer to the US$1 billion milestone.

Overall, this week’s market action showed weaker price performance across Bitcoin and most major altcoins, while TRX was the only major asset in the table to record a weekly gain.

Beyond price action, institutional demand remained a key theme this week. Bitcoin formed a golden cross as its 50-day moving average moved above the 200-day moving average, while U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded US$986.9 million in weekly inflows, bringing the three-week total to US$3.8 billion and total net assets to US$101.3 billion. Institutional exposure also expanded beyond Bitcoin, with Standard Chartered launching spot BTC and ETH trading for institutional clients in the UAE, while 30 institutions disclosed a combined US$74.9 million in U.S. HYPE ETF holdings.

Stablecoins and tokenized financial infrastructure also continued to advance. Visa’s stablecoin settlement volume surpassed a US$20 billion annualized run rate, up more than 15x year over year, with more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs now live on its network. U.S. Bank completed a live cross-border payment pilot using its USBDC stablecoin, while DBS and Citi completed a weekend USD transfer using tokenized deposits through Swift’s Digital Ledger, settling in minutes. South Korea also unveiled a three-stage roadmap to tokenize stocks, bonds and funds, with its final stage targeting on-chain settlement infrastructure linked to stablecoins.

The industry is also moving toward a more accessible digital financial system. Ethereum developers committed Frame Transactions to the planned 2027 Hegotá upgrade, which could allow users to transact without holding ETH for gas fees. Together, these developments show that institutional adoption is increasingly moving beyond crypto asset exposure toward stablecoin payments, tokenized securities, faster settlement and infrastructure designed to make digital assets more accessible and integrated into the broader financial system.
